Baby Steps

I got out my trusty 1985-era Birmingham Barons calculator today to do some Oriole-related math.
Even though they got off to a horrible start, one that had people speculating as to whether they could break the '62 Mets' record of 120 losses, they could finish better than anyone could have imagined.
It all changed last month when Buck Showalter took over as manager. Under him, the Birds have a 21-14 record, and it looks as if they could avoid a 100 loss season.
After today's loss to the Yankees, the O's have a record of 53-87. There are 22 games left to play. The Orioles can go 10-12 in those games to avoid the century mark. That's right, two games under .500.
I know I'm not impartial, but I really think Buck needs some consideration for AL Manager of the Year.
