Accentuate the positive.
While perusing the newspaper this morning, (yes, I still do it the old fashioned way) I took a close look at the Major League standings. I found two things to be very interesting.
One, the Birds may not have the worst record in baseball for much longer. As of monday morning, after a four game sweep of the mighty Rangers, their record was 29-59. Pittsburgh lost to Milwaukee sunday to drop their won-loss mark to 30-58. That's right, they are just one game out of vacating the worst record in MLB. Cue the applause signs!
Two, they have also passed a mathematical milestone. They now have more wins than they are games behind the division-leading Yankees. They head into the break with 29 wins, and they, again thanks to the four-game sweep, are 27 games out.
I know. Baby steps and all, but in this train wreck of a season, we should take our positive trends wherever we can find them!
