A little foot in ass is in order here

A few weeks ago I was at the O's game with Ken and Kevin battle and saw Nolan Reimold ole' a fly to left. After he missed it he barely made an effort to run down the ball he just muffed, leaving that to Adam Jones. He then slow walked back to his spot in left looking down at his shoes all the way there. I was so angry at what I perceived as a lack of effort I told Ken that if I was managing the O's I'd yank him off the field now just to set the tone.  That didn't happen of course.

However, it did happen yesterday but not to an Oriole. Fredi Gonzalez (Marlin's manager) yanked Hanley Ramirez after he booted a ball down the left field line and made a very, very weak effort to chase it down. His lack of hustle cost the Marlins two runs.  Not only am I impressed that Gonzalez pulled a player for not giving it his all, but the fact that it was Hanley Ramirez makes it all the more impressive. Ramirez isn't on par with Nolan Reimold...he's on par with Derek Jeter. He's a superstar , probably one of the top ten players in MLB if not the top five. If a premier player like Ramirez can be yanked why can't one of ours?
