A Great Story Continues

Looking back, it could've gotten really ugly. An umpire blows a call on the last out of what would've been a perfect game. I wouldn't have been surprised if someone eventually had to be restrained. Instead everyone handled it with class. Armando Galarraga was given a car anyway, and umpire Jim Joyce is a hero for immediately admitting he was wrong. By accident, baseball is better for this. Now comes the confidential poll of 100 major leaguers conducted by ESPN the Magazine that concludes Joyce is the best umpire in baseball. So says 53 of the 100. Tim McClelland is 2nd at 34. Bud Selig, try as he might, can't screw this story up.
