8/15, Fake ID's and Blow Me Over
Let's consider this setting the bar for the post All-Star break Orioles, a 34-40 record will avoid a 100 loss season. If you think that's over-achieving how 'bout 26 and 48, this will keep these Birds from becoming the worst team since the Orioles landed in Baltimore in 1954.
How deep and dark was that hole the first half Orioles dug? Prior to their 4-game sweep in Texas the Orioles were 25-59, the most direct path back to break even from there, a 34-game win streak. According to my calendar the 34-game win streak will take us to August 15th. I'd suspect the parade down Charles Street to honor the win streak and a .500 record would take place on August 16th.
The Ravens can handle the Steelers and rest of the bad boys of the NFL but can't control the autograph geeks? C'mon, autographs for ages 5-16 only. I suspect there are some 4-year olds getting fake ID's, and those in the late teen years now will go multiple fake ID's, one for clubbin' another to get Marc Bulger's autograph.
A couple of rare things in the first two rounds of the British Open. John Daly near the top of the leaderboard (nice pants!) and a WIND delay of over an hour. Not rain, not lightning but wind moving balls marked on the green. Golfers wearing ski caps and looking pained and playing like the rest of us hackers, gotta love the British Open at St. Andrews.
