5 Shot, Including 2 Children, In Suspected Murder-Suicide

COLESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- A father opened fire on his family, killing two before turning the gun on himself.

Montgomery County Police are investigating after five people were found shot at a home in the 100 block of Amberleigh Drive.

Three people are dead, including a 10-year-old boy, after the murder-suicide in Montgomery County.

Police say they responded to the home at approximately 12:06 Monday morning after receiving a report that multiple people had been shot.

Police said a 57-year-old man, identified as Yong Kim, and a 48-year-old woman, Sang Kim, who were husband and wife, were found dead after police arrived just after midnight following reports that several people had been shot inside the home.

"This investigation is ongoing but appears this is a domestic-related murder-suicide," police said.

The 10-year-old boy, identified as Andy, who was the man's son, later died at the hospital.

A 22-year-old woman, Kim's stepdaughter, and one of his other children were taken to the hospital where they were listed in critical condition.

Investigators believe this is a domestic-related event that was contained to the home.

Police said that last year they did respond to the home for an unrelated case involving a landlord dispute.

"You have five members of this family who were shot, three killed. It's a tragic day in Montgomery County," said Rick Goodale, Montgomery County Police Department Public Information Officer.

People in the family's neighborhood said they knew the family for several years and said they are devastated.

A complete motive is still unclear.
