5 Bold Predictions for NFL 2010
With the kickoff of the 2010 NFL season officially underway its time for the yearly bold predictions. So here are 5 predictions of mine some might be going out on a limb some may not but here they are.
1. The Jets and Vikings will miss the playoffs
I am one of the few people not on the Jets bandwagon, its funny how people forget this was a 9-7 team last year that has the Bengals and Colts to thank for just getting in the playoffs. The defense is very good especially with Revis back in the fold with a new contract but as we know in Baltimore the defense can only take you so far. The Jets offense has a lot of question marks. Mark Sanchez has a lot of growing left to do and honestly the Jets will only go as far as he takes them. For the Vikings does anybody really expect the same kind of year from Bret Favre, I for one don't. I feel more confident about leaving the Vikings out of the playoffs after the injuries to Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin. Favre cant do it alone and I don't think he will.
2. Joe Flacco will finish Top 5 in Passing Yards
In each of the last 2 years Flacco has improved in both yards and touchdowns with basically just Derrick Mason and Ray Rice. Now for this season Flacco has Anquan Boldin, TJ Houshmanzadeh, Donte Stallworth(when he returns), and the 2 rookie tight ends Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta, who of course will pay behind Todd Heap. What im trying to say is that he has weapons and the potential for an offensive explosion. So ill say Flacco will have 4500 yards and 30 TDs.
3. Texans finally play in the postseason
I know, I know it seems like every year the Houston Texans are the sexy pick to make the postseason but i truly feel it happens in 2010. Last year they took a small step in doing that going 9-7. It was the first time in Texans history to have a winning season, baby steps. Also with the Steelers not having Big Ben for 4 games and the Jets being overrated(in my opinion) this might be the best chance for the Texans to clinch a playoff spot. Also having the best receiver in football doesn't hurt either.
4. Bills and Buccaneers will flirt with win less Seasons
It is extremely tough in the NFL to go undefeated in the Regular season, maybe even harder is going win less, for the simple fact that eventually the ball has to bounce your way. When you look at both the Bills and Buccs they really don't have a lot going for them. You could argue both of their starting QBs would be fighting for a second string job on most other teams. Random thought I almost forgot Kellen Winslow was on the Buccs, it's going to be a long season in Tampa and Buffalo.
5. There will be football in 2011
I don't know how bold of a prediction this is but for the last several weeks and months all we keep hearing is there might be a potential lockout of 2011. First of all how dumb will everybody look if they are not playing football. The NFL is by far the best sports product out there to miss a month or whatever would be a huge step back. Maybe im optimistic but I think something will get done, it might not be until the 11th hour but as long as it gets done that's all that matters.
