3-Year-Old Suspended From Va. School For Accidents
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The mother of a 3-year-old girl who was suspended from preschool for having too many potty accidents is asking Arlington County to change its policy.
Zoe Rosso was removed from Arlington Public Schools' Montessori preschool at Claremont Elementary in December. School officials told her parents not to bring her back to school for a month, or until Zoe was better potty trained.
A spokeswoman for Arlington's Office of Early Childhood says the decades-old policy is to remove a child who has eight accidents in a month. Spokeswoman Linda Erdos says at that point it disrupts the class.
Experts say children typically begin to toilet-train between 18 months and 4 years.
Zoe is now going to a school with a program that helps potty-train children.
