24-hour Headlight Use Becomes Mandatory On US 50

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The State Highway Administration is requiring that drivers have their vehicles' headlights on 24 hours a day while traveling on Route 50 between Route 13 in Wicomico County and MD 90 in Worcester County.

Mandatory headlight use takes effect on Thursday and signs have been installed along the road to alert drivers.

The SHA said in an email that there have been crashes along the corridor and mandatory headlight use on MD 90 has made a difference.

Between 28,000 to 36,000 motorists travel on that part of Route 50 every day.
