17-Year-Old Male Student Arrested After Knocking Out Female Classmate

FREDERICK, Md. (WJZ) -- A 17-year-old male student has been arrested after knocking out a female classmate in Frederick.

Authorities say the student struck the victim in the head with his fist following dismissal outside Frederick High School. They say he resisted arrest, assaulted a sheriff's deputy and attempted to flee.

A deputy had to deploy his Taser at the student. He was then taken into custody.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. A sheriff's deputy also sustained minor injuries.

The student now faces multiple charges. He has been placed into the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services.
