More Than 90,000 Without Power In Washington Area

WASHINGTON (AP) -- More than 90,000 customers in the Washington region are still without power following the first major snow storm the winter season, and weather officials say more snow is on the way.

Pepco spokesman Andre Francis said at about 10:30 a.m. Friday, 8,300 customers were without power in Washington. In Montgomery County, 66,000 customers lacked power and in Prince George's County 7,500 were without power.

Baltimore Gas & Electric said 2,000 of its customers in Prince George's County and 500 in Montgomery County lacked power.

In northern Virginia, Dominion Power was reporting 12,000 outages.

The National Weather Service says the Washington area could see up to another inch of snow on Friday. Department of Transportation spokesman John Lisle says that at 7 a.m., 82 trucks were deployed to keep roads clear.
