Planes rabies baits across North Georgia to protect wildlife
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is conducting a major bait drop across 15 North Georgia counties this week, targeting wild raccoons in an effort to control the spread of disease. Planes and helicopters are releasing fish-scented baits—designed to look like small matchboxes—through next Wednesday. Officials urge residents who find these baits to leave them alone or toss them deeper into the woods.
