Nearly 500 workers to be laid off at Stone Mountain Park

Nearly 500 employees at Stone Mountain Park are set to lose their jobs this summer, according to a state filing.

A notice posted to Georgia's WARN Act database shows that 497 workers across multiple roles will be laid off, with separations expected to take effect on June 1.

The filing does not provide a reason for the layoffs.

The WARN Act, or Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, requires certain employers to give advance notice of large layoffs or closures, giving workers time to prepare for job loss.

It's unclear which positions will be affected or whether the layoffs are tied to operational changes at the park.

In a statement, park officials said, "We have a shared commitment to collaboration, with Thrive SMP, the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, and the park's future operator, working closely to ensure a smooth transition and support the continued long-term success of Stone Mountain Park."

Stone Mountain Park, one of Georgia's most popular tourist destinations, employs hundreds of workers across attractions, hospitality, and maintenance services.
