Covington man accused of threatening ex-FBI agent on social media, prosecutors say
A federal grand jury has indicted a Covington man for allegedly posting threats on social media toward a former high-level FBI official, authorities say.
Isiah Washington, 49, of Covington, Georgia, appeared in federal court on Thursday to hear that he was charged with one count of transmitting interstate threats.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia, Washington allegedly posted threats toward the FBI, CIA, and DEA on X in April 2025. In those messages, investigators claim he posted photos of a retired FBI agent and another person resembling him with the comments "I'm going to kill him," and "I'm going to kill this guy."
"Violent threats against FBI personnel are not taken lightly, whether they are made in person or from behind a keyboard," said Marlo Graham, the special agent in charge of FBI Atlanta. "As alleged, Washington crossed the line with explicit threats against a former FBI supervisor, and the FBI will continue working with our law enforcement partners to hold accountable those who threaten the lives of law enforcement officers."
Washington also faces charges in South Carolina for allegedly making phone calls in which he threatened employees at a North Charleston police station in June 2025, officials say.
He remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
