Unusual Items Up For Auction In Tarrant County

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Everything from a 1999 Corvette to a one-eyed horse is up for auction Saturday in Tarrant County.

Twice a year Tarrant County holds the auction of seized items, plus surplus county equipment. "Some of it is items that have been collected or seized by our narcotics interdiction crime unit," explained Tarrant County purchasing officer Jack Beacham.

The auction will include surplus county cars, jewelry and a number of flat screen televisions seized by drug officers.

"There's a Hummer in this [that's in] pretty good shape. A water truck… I guess you could use it to water your lawn if you had water to put in it," joked Beacham.

For car enthusiasts the Chevy Corvette might be something to check out. "Nice looking Corvette. It's black in color. It's supposed to in excellent shape," said Beacham. "A brand new motor needs to be put in it, but it is as clean as a whistle as far as I've seen."

Temperatures on Saturday will hover around 100-degrees, but Beacham says the auction will be comfortable. "It's in a covered, shaded arena, inside for the jewelry and the other items. Cash, letter of credit from the bank… it ought to be a good day for everybody."

The auction will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Windy Ryon Rodeo Arena in Saginaw. Click here to find out more information.

A footnote – the one-eyed horse up for auction was apparently abandoned and was found wandering in Tarrant County.
