PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - Imagine you're at home, when you spot two intruders. What would you do?

A new class, at the Patriot Protection tactical training facility in Plano, allows you a chance to find out, by having actors break into your house.

The in-home exercise happens under controlled conditions. Instructors warn neighbors and police and replace all guns in the home with ones firing blanks.

We enrolled CBS11 photographer Alexis Ramirez and his wife Angie.

"Seeing them walk into your house and seeing them walking around your house, it makes you… nerve-wracking," said Ramirez.

Students start with four hours in a classroom and another four in a training facility. The class then moves to their home.

"There's nothing more personal than having people who you don't know that are armed coming into your home," said instructor Blake Lena.

In one attempt, Alexis and Angie spot the men and safely escape. In another Angelica fires at them, only to have her gun jam.

"It's really, really difficult, more than I ever expected," she said. "It was a way of opening my eyes and knowing just because you have a gun doesn't mean you know how to be safe," said Alexis.

The two say now want even more training, so they'll be ready for whatever comes.

The class, called "On Site" is available through Patriot Protection. It costs $800 for a couple, $600 for an individual.
