WYLIE (CBS11) - A murder-suicide in Wylie has a neighborhood grieving. Police say a local realtor killed his wife Friday morning, called 9-1-1 and then shot himself.

Candles and tears punctuated an emotional day for neighbors in McCreary Estates. Neighbors gathered to sing "Amazing Grace" and to pray for the Young family.

Police say 59-year-old Sam Young shot his wife, 54-year-old Sylvia Young. He called 9-1-1 to confess and then turned the gun on himself.

"He had a Great Dane named Jack. I saw them everywhere. He was just a really, really nice guy," says neighbor Wendy Wirtz. "Just nice, nice people."

After police arrived, SWAT negotiators sent a robot inside the house. Its camera confirmed there were two bodies. Sam Young posted on his Facebook page Friday morning, "Good-by. Sorry for the pain."

"He is so friendly. I don't know what happened. This is very shocking for us," one neighbor said.

"He was just a nice, friendly, outgoing person. You would not expect it all. No," says neighbor Lisa Rausaw.

Therapist Dr. Marianne Horne says sometimes pain can be impossible to see.

"They put on a face that hides what's truly going on in their lives," she says. "Because they are so skilled at not showing what's going on, it's hard to see past the facade that they present with."

The Youngs have two adult sons. One of them was inside the house when the shooting happened and kicked out a window to escape.
