Airline Passengers Get Chance To 'Meet & Seat'

DFW AIRPORT (CBSDFW.COM) - Social media has changed the way we shop, date and even find a new job. Now, it's about to change the way we fly.

Business class passengers who fly out of DFW Airport travelling direct from Dallas to Amsterdam can now decide who sits next to them. The program offered by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is called 'Meet and Seat.' You and your fellow passengers can choose to reveal yourselves, and look for some cabin compatibility. The program allows passengers to share their social media profiles with other passengers.

"What's really interesting, that it's not just something we thought of ourselves," said Jan Van Helden, product strategy manager for KLM. "It really came from our customers."

KLM is pitching it as a business tool. The program is being tried out in business class on select transcontinental flights. More than 4,000 people have already used it.
