UCSF Dental Student Found Dead In Albany Apartment

ALBANY (CBS SF) -- An Albany woman found dead in an apparent homicide in her apartment on Monday has been identified as a University of California at San Francisco dental school student.

Randhir Kaur, 37, was found dead in her apartment in the 1000 block of Kains Avenue around 4 p.m. on Monday, according to Albany police.

Police are treating the death as a homicide resulting from a single gunshot wound. An autopsy scheduled to be conducted Wednesday will provide the official cause of death, police said.

UCSF dental school officials said Kaur was enrolled in the International Dentist Program with an anticipated June 2016 graduation date.

"She was a treasured member of our community, and our hearts go out to her family and friends at this very difficult time," dental school officials said in a statement. "She will be deeply missed."

A candlelight vigil is planned at the school on Monday evening, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Police said they are actively following up on leads, but have not identified any suspects or a motive for the killing.
