Trump Says U.S. Has Signed Trade Deal With Mexico To Avoid Tariffs

WASHINGTON (CBS NEWS) -- President Trump tweeted Friday evening that a trade deal has been signed with Mexico to avoid tariffs that would've started on Monday.

The State Department will release the details of the agreement, but Mr. Trump said that Mexico "has agreed to take strong measures to ... stem the tide of migration."

The announcement avoids what many economists and Republicans predicted would be damaging to the U.S. economy.
