Thousands Spend Christmas At Glide In San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – There was an overflow crowd on Christmas morning at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco as volunteers dished out warm meals to those in need.
The Reverend Cecil Williams, who founded Glide, said as always, the goal is to provide new hope for those who need it.
"I see people of all colors, all classes, all stripes, all dimensions coming together for once, the rich and the poor get together," said Williams. "The homeless and those who are not homeless and the middle class get together."
KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:
In the basement dining room, plates were overflowing with salad, mashed potatoes, veggies, ham and turkey.
Worshipers gathered in the sanctuary as breakfast and dinner were being served.
