Teaser Trailer For Tupac Shakur Biopic Released On Rapper's Birthday

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Oakland rapper, Tupac Shakur aka "2-Pac" would have been 45 years old on Thursday, June 16th. Instead he was gunned down on the Las Vegas Strip in September of 1996.

His story is being retold on the big screen in the upcoming biopic film "All Eyez on Me" and the first teaser trailer has released via social media:

The film stars newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. as "Tupac" with Danai Gurira ("The Walking Dead") playing his mother "Afeni Shakur" and "The Vampire Diaries" star Kat Graham as "Jada Pinkett."

Shipp, who has an uncanny resemblance to 2-Pac, told XXL Magazine that he feels a kinship with the late rap pioneer. "I have to say that I'm a very passionate person, a person that's very driven on integrity and my beliefs," Shipp said. "I believe there's definitely a similarity there. Just getting into the character, I fell in love with who he was. It was common things that were brought together with me and him, our childhood. It was a crazy thing to be able to do it."

"All Eyez on Me" is set to release in theaters on November 11th.
