Suspect In Abuse Of Campbell 3-Year-Old Arrested
CAMPBELL (CBS/AP) -- A man suspected in the abuse of a 3-year-old girl who was found wrapped in a carpet in a Campbell garage has been found and arrested.
Campbell police said tips led them to 35-year-old George Rodriguez, who was taken into custody around 1:35 p.m. Wednesday as he sat in a car in San Jose.
Rodriguez was wanted on suspicion of child abuse and felony imprisonment involving the 3-year-old.
The girl was discovered in the garage by Rodriguez's 15-year-old son on May 9. Police say she was rolled up in a carpet with a mattress on top of her and had bruises on her stomach and face.
The girl's mother, 31-year-old Jane Marin, has also been arrested. Marin and the 3-year-old apparently stayed with Rodriguez briefly.
The girl is now in protective custody.
