Small Plane Crashes Near San Carlos Airport
SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) -- A small plane crashed Thursday at the San Carlos regional airport.
The pilot, who was the only person aboard, was able to walk away from the crash.
It happened at Holly St. and Shoreway Road just north of San Carlos Airport around 5:18 p.m.
A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the plane went down just after takeoff and crashed into thick brush along Shoreway Road.
The plane, a DV-1 Skylark, came to rest just short of a public storage facility across Holly St. from the airport property.
Shoreway was closed between Holly St. and Cormorant Drive, as crews and investigators tended to the scene.
