SF Boy Pulled From Russian River Dies At Hospital

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - A 13-year-old San Francisco boy who was pulled from the Russian River in Forestville on Sunday has died.

Eduardo Nery Corona died at 11:04 a.m. Monday at Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a possible drowning at Steelhead Beach located near 9000 River Road at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Steve Brown said.

A 15-year-old girl told first responders that her 13-year-old brother was in distress in the river before he went under water, Brown said.

Corona was pulled ashore by someone swimming in the river, and a citizen tried to revive him before paramedics arrived, Brown said.

He was taken by ambulance to Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa then airlifted to Children's Hospital.
