Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Near San Jose State; Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A man was struck and killed in a fatal hit-and-run collision near San Jose State University early Thursday morning, San Jose police said.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Fourth and San Fernando streets, police said. Officers were called at around 2:45 a.m. and arrived to find the man lying in the street. He later died from his injuries.
Investigators were searching for surveillance video from the surrounding area, as there was very little information from witnesses, said police spokesman Sgt. Enrique Garcia.
"We're going to be looking for any video evidence we can release to the public that will help the public help us identify who the suspect is," said Garcia. "It's also going to be critical to also find out exactly what happened before, during and after the collision occurred."

Garcia said aside from the 911 caller who called after the fact, investigators do not have much to work with right now.
"The only information we have is that we have very little information regarding who the suspect is or even the car information," said Garcia. "If we even had those details we'd be putting it out right now. Unfortunately, we don't."
Garcia urged anyone with information to contact San Jose police or Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers. Callers can remain anonymous.
"After something like this happens, I guarantee you the suspect is going to be talking to other people about what happened and we want to hear from anyone that even heard the information third-hand," said Garcia.
