San Francisco Police Ask For Help In Finding 'Make-Up Bandit'
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police asked the public for help in identifying a suspect in a Marina District retail store robbery they have dubbed the "make-up bandit."
The suspect rode up on a bicycle and entered a store in the 2100 block of Chestnut Street on Dec. 18 around 10:45 a.m., according to police.
He then walked to the make-up aisle and began stuffing cosmetics into his jacket.
When store employees, who recognized the man as a prior shoplifter, told him to stop and drop the items, he walked out the exit and shoved and pushed his way past them.
One employee stopped him outside the store and tried to bring him back in, but the suspect then allegedly brandished a knife and yelled threats, police said.
The employee released the suspect, who fled west on Chestnut Street.
Police released surveillance video of the suspect today and are asking anyone who recognizes him to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or Text-a-Tip to TIP411 and start the message with SFPD.
