San Francisco Muni Passenger Injured In Potrero Hill Bus Shooting
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— A passenger aboard a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus was injured after shots were fired into the bus in the city's Potrero Hill neighborhood, according to police.
Police said the shooting occurred at around 2:14 p.m. at 25th and Wisconsin when three black males all approximately 6 feet tall, boarded the 19 Polk inbound bus.
The males exited the bus and then multiple shots were fired into the bus, injuring the male passenger.
"It is undetermined at this point whether or not this is a graze wound from a bullet or possibly from a shard of glass," said San Francisco Police Sgt. Carlos Manfredi.
The passenger was driven to SF General Hospital by the Muni driver. She did not offer any comment.
As of 3:00 p.m., the bus was still at the intersection with police tape around it and at least two bullet holes in its left rear window.
Police had placed evidence markers over two bullet casings in the roadway at 25th and Wisconsin streets.
San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency officials posted on Twitter that the 19-Polk line was rerouted around the area because of the police activity but that regular service has since resumed.
The Police Department's gang task force is investigating the shooting but no other information was immediately available about the suspects.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411.
