Riders Aren't Surprised As Muni's On-Time Record Sags

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Muni's on-time performance has been on a slow, but steady slide since the first three months of 2010, and many Muni passengers say they are not surprised by the numbers.

KCBS' Margie Shafer Reports:

A report to be presented to the Municipal Transportation Agency Tuesday states that 72 percent of the agency's vehicles showed up on schedule in July, August and September of last year. That's a decline of three percent from the first three months of 2010.

"It feels slower than normal," said one rider. "Every day I have to wait."

Some customers say they arrive early to catch certain buses, giving themselves a 20 minute window, because they aren't exactly sure when the bus will arrive.

In 1999, voters passed a measure mandating an 85 percent on time rate, but the agency has never come close to achieving it.
