Residents Return To Berryessa Estates After Valley Fire Evacuation Order Lifted
LAKE BERRYESSA (CBS SF) -- The mandatory evacuation of Napa County's Berryessa Estates because of the Valley Fire was lifted for residents as of 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the county executive's office.
The 73,700-acre fire that started in Lake County Saturday afternoon burned the northeast tip of Napa County and affected residents of the rural subdivision near Lake Berryessa.
To support the return of residents, the road closure at Butts Canyon Road at Aetna Springs Road has opened and is being moved north to Butts Canyon and Snell Valley roads.
A road closure has been established at the entrance of Aetna Springs Road and a road closure has been established at the entrance of James Creek Road, county officials said.
All other evacuation orders remain in place.
At least three people have died in the Valley Fire, which has also spread into part of Sonoma County. Cal Fire officials said the blaze was 35 percent contained as of Thursday.
The fire has burned at least 585 homes and hundreds of other structures and injured four firefighters, according to Cal Fire.
