Repeat Offender Arrested In Santa Rosa On New DUI Charges
SANTA ROSA (BCN) - A Petaluma man with four prior convictions for driving under the influence was arrested by California Highway Patrol officers in Sonoma County early Saturday morning on suspicion of DUI, the CHP said.
Antonio Chavez Meza, 31, failed to stop for CHP officers who attempted to pull him over as he barreled down southbound U.S. Highway 101 just past the merge with state Highway 12.
Officers were able to stop Meza in his Mitsubishi Eclipse after he exited at Todd Road. The CHP said Meza, who was not carrying identification, gave officers a false name.
According to the CHP, officers noted signs of intoxication and subsequently arrested Meza on suspicion of DUI.
His passenger, Angelina Patricia Tolliver, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.
A records check revealed that Meza has four prior convictions for DUI and a license that has been suspended multiple times, the CHP said.
Once Meza was booked at Sonoma County Jail, officers learned he provided a false name—he stated his first name was "Angel" when officers stopped him on Todd Road.
Meza was additionally charged with having a fifth DUI in 10 years, providing false information to police, driving with a suspended license, and violation of probation, according to the CHP.
