Rare Albatross Spotted Off Pillar Point In 2nd Sighting In North America
HALF MOON BAY (CBS SF) -- A rare seabird has been spotted for just the second time in North America, this time off the California coast.
The Salvin's Albatross was spotted about 25-miles off shore from Pillar Point in Half Moon Bay.
Salvin's Albatross is a large seabird usually found in the Southern Ocean.
The species had never been seen in California, and was last seen in Alaska.
