Power Restored After Seagull Hits Line, Knocks Out Power In Oakland
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Power has been restored to all customers after a seagull flew into a power line near Oakland's Jack London Square Tuesday morning, a utility spokeswoman said.
The outage that began at about 6:45 a.m. affected 1,955 customers in the area of Fourth and Franklin streets, PG&E spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.
"A bird with a slightly larger wing span made contact with two different spans of wire," Sarkissian said.
The seagull died, she said.
Power was restored to all but 88 customers as of 9:05 a.m., she said.
All power was restored by 1:35 p.m., Sarkissian said.
