OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man wanted in the killing of a teenager in Oakland earlier this month was arrested in Pittsburg on Monday, authorities announced Tuesday afternoon.

Remon McDaniel, 36, is suspected in the killing of 19-year-old Isaac White on Jan. 4.

White was shot outside his home in the 1800 block of East 25th Street around 8:45 p.m. that day and later died at a hospital.

Investigators had been seeking McDaniel, who they said lived in the same neighborhood as White, and a $1 million warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Police said the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task force tracked McDaniel to an apartment in Pittsburg and arrested him around 3 p.m. Monday as he walked to the BART station there.

A fugitive apprehension team from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation participated in the arrest, as did police from Oakland and San Francisco.

Oakland police Sgt. Randy Wingate said last week that McDaniel has an extensive criminal history and was considered armed and dangerous.

Wingate said the killing was targeted and called it a "cold-blooded act of violence."

Wingate said White was well-liked in the neighborhood and police received a number of tips from residents implicating McDaniel. He also said White was working and going to school, and doing "all the right things."

White's killing marked the first homicide in Oakland this year.
