Out Of Control Driver Crashes Into San Jose Dental Office

SAN JOSE (BCN) - A 36-year-old man lost control of his car and crashed into a dentist's office on his way to work in San Jose Thursday morning after suffering a medical emergency, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 9:40 a.m. at Precious Smile Dental, located at 1728 Hostetter Road, San Jose fire Capt. Chuck Rangel said.

The man was going west on Hostetter Road when he suddenly lost control of his car and drove into the dentist's office, police Officer Jose Garcia said.

The crash caused significant damage to his car and some damage to a corner of the building, which is part of a strip mall, Rangel said.

The driver could not recall anything about the crash, Rangel said.

It appears he suffered some type of medical emergency, Garcia said.

The man and a 51-year-old woman inside the dentist's office were transported to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. The woman suffered a leg injury from debris and glass that hit her during the crash, Garcia said.

The driver was the only person in the car, Rangel said.

Precious Smile Dental is temporarily closed pending a structural and electrical evaluation, he said.

Hostetter Road was closed after the crash but has since reopened, Rangel said.
