OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- One person was killed when they were shot in East Oakland early Sunday morning and then run over by the fleeing suspect's car, police said.

Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of 88th Avenue at 3:02 a.m.

As officers arrived they saw several cars flee from the scene and found one person on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim had also been run over by a car after they were shot, police said.

An ambulance responded, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:22 a.m.
