New 'Batman v Superman' Trailer Released at Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO (CBS NEWS) – Warner Brothers has released a new trailer for its DC Comics spectacle, "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice."

The trailer debuted Saturday morning during the studio's panel for its upcoming films at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Ben Affleck (who plays Batman) and Henry Cavill (Superman) introduced the footage along with the film's director, Zack Snyder.

There are quick glimpses of Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, reprising their "Man of Steel" roles of Lois Lane, Perry White and Ma Kent. Other stars include Holly Hunter as a U.S. Senator investigating a disaster that is being blamed on Superman; and Jeremy Irons as Bruce Wayne's trusted butler, Alfred.

There are also brief shots of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) in the thick of battle, but it is not clear on whose side she is fighting.

As is often the case with superhero movies, the most intriguing character is the villain, Lex Luthor. Sporting a mop of hair uncharacteristic of the criminal mastermind, Jesse Eisenberg is taunting and wily -- and likely the conniving source of friction between the alien with superhuman powers who is hailed by many as a god, and the rich orphan with lots of cool gadgets and a big chip on his shoulder.

The fight that brings these two superhero franchises together actually mashes up their cities as well.

During the panel, it was revealed that Metropolis and Gotham are across a bay from one another, "like Oakland and San Francisco," said Snyder. Who knew?
