Naked Man Detained At Highway 880 Crash

FREMONT (CBS SF) – A naked man was detained after he was found wandering on the side of the freeway near a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 880 Thursday morning, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol was trying to determine what role the naked man may have played in the chain reaction crash near the Mowry Avenue onramp at 4:35 a.m.

Investigators say the incident began as a crash between a Honda sedan and an SUV, which ended up on its side.

Moments later, four other vehicles were involved in a second crash. A SigAlert was issued as several southbound lanes were blocked and not completely reopened until 6:28 a.m.

Arriving officers spotted the naked man near the crash scene and detained him. He along with an occupant of one of the vehicles was taken to the hospital for examination.

Cause of the crash remained under investigation.
