Man Killed When Car Rolls Over Him In Monterey County

PRUNEDALE (CBS SF) -- A 56-year-old man moving a car died when the vehicle rolled over him Saturday morning in Prunedale, an unincorporated community in Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was trying to move a parked 1956 Buick Roadmaster by hand into a home in the 7500 block of Langley Canyon Road around 10 a.m., CHP officials said.

The man stood in front of the car that he pulled by hand when the vehicle rolled downhill. He tried to stop the Buick with his hands but the car rolled on top of him, CHP officials said.

The man was trapped under the vehicle and was rescued by emergency crews who responded to the scene to perform life-saving measures on him, according to the CHP.

The man, whose name hasn't been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators don't suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident, according to the CHP.
