High Probability Of Strong Aftershocks Following Napa Earthquake

NAPA (CBS SF) -- There is over a fifty percent chance that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake will hit in the next week in the same area where a 6.0 quake caused major damage and injured over 170 people in Napa Sunday, according to seismologists.

State Seismologist John Parrish said there have already been fifty to sixty aftershocks following Sunday morning's quake. He believed the shaking would continue for several weeks.

Seismologists believed there was a 5-percent chance of an even larger quake over magnitude 6.0 in the next few days.
