Here's How Much The Ideal Woman's Body Has Changed Since Ancient History

Remember when the ideal woman's body was best described as "rounded"? No, you don't, because that was during the Renaissance when none of us existed.

The world has come a long way (for better and for worse) since those days, and the "ideal" body has fluctuated between "heroin chic" and "plump" over the past thousands of years.

In ancient Egypt, for example, symmetry was important, and women were expected to appear slender and regal. Thousands of years later, ancient Greek women were considered "deformed" versions of men, that is, until the visage of Aphrodite came along and "beautiful" women were full-figured.

It wasn't until the 1920s that women began to favor the very thin look, as the video demonstrates.

Since those days, the Western ideal of the perfect body has pervaded, and has changed (more or less) with the times.

Check it out in the video above, and read the full breakdown here at Buzzfeed.
