SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The morning commute into San Francisco has gone smoothly so far Tuesday following the overnight closure of a major off-ramp from the Bay Bridge into the city, a transportation official said.
First Day Of Folsom Street Off-Ramp Closure Runs Smoothly For SF Bay Bridge Commuters
The Folsom Street off-ramp from westbound Interstate Highway 80 closed for a project that will last through March to increase pedestrian access in the area and reconfigure the off-ramp to increase traffic efficiency.
Motorists are advised to take either the Fremont Street or Harrison Street exits from westbound Highway 80 to access Folsom Street during the closure.

As of shortly after 8 a.m., "the morning commute was pretty smooth, with no major tie-ups or backups on the Bay Bridge," said Eric Young, spokesman for the San Francisco County Transportation Authority.
"Our hope is that people know" about the closure and plan accordingly, Young said.
More information about the $3.5 million off-ramp project can be found online at www.sfcta.org/FolsomRamp.
