Firefighters Pull Woman From Concord Storm Drain After She Refuses To Come Out
CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A woman was rescued by firefighters from a storm drain in Concord on Sunday after she climbed in and refused to come out, a county fire official said.
Crews responded to the 1200 block of Concord Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. to find a distraught woman inside of a vertical storm drain, Contra Costa County Fire Prevention District Fire Marshal Lewis Broschard said.
She had removed the storm drain grate and crawled into the 15-feet deep and 3-feet wide drain, he said.
Because the space was small, she needed to be rescued by the county's Confined Space Rescue Team, Broschard said.
She was removed after about an hour and was transported to a local hospital with no apparent injuries, Broschard said.
