Firefighters Contain 4-Alarm Fire In San Francisco's Bayview District

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A four-alarm fire that damaged three buildings in San Francisco's Bayview District early Wednesday morning was considered suspicious, police and fire officials said.

The blaze was reported at 12:53 a.m. at a two-story house at 1644 McKinnon Ave., near Third Street. The flames spread to two other structures before the fire was extinguished at 4:19 a.m.

Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said arson investigators were at the scene Wednesday morning. He said no arrests have been made.

At least one firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the blaze but was treated at the scene, fire officials said.

A gas leak was reported as a result of the fire, prompting PG&E to respond to the scene, according to fire officials.

The American Red Cross was assisting residents who had been displaced by the blaze. An exact number of displaced residents was not immediately available Wednesday morning.
