Fire Injures 3, Destroys Mobile Homes In King City

KING CITY (CBS SF) -- Deputies Sunday morning helped evacuate several people from a fire that injured three people and damaged several mobile homes and a business in King City.

Deputies with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office responded at 12:28 a.m. to 935 Broadway Street in reference to a mobile home that was on fire.

A responding deputy started evacuating nearby mobile homes, located a disoriented man in one of the homes and broke a sliding glass door to help the man out of the home, according to the sheriff's office.

The deputy suffered lacerations to his right hand and forearm and minor smoke inhalation. He was transported to a hospital for treatment and was later released.

Deputies helped evacuate 30 mobile homes near the initial fire.

Deputies said four mobile homes and an auto dealership sustained significant damage in the fire.

One resident was airlifted to the hospital with third-degree burns to his upper body. Another was transported to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
