Dogs To Search For Remains In 'Speed Freak Killers' Case
LINDEN, San Joaquin County (CBS / AP) -- Authorities say cadaver dogs will be used to search for human remains in dozens of dirt piles on an abandoned cattle ranch in San Joaquin County where about 1,000 bone fragments have been found.
San Joaquin County sheriff's spokesman Les Garcia was not sure when the dogs would arrive at the ranch near Linden, but says it could be as early as Friday.
Garcia said the dogs will also be used to try to locate a second well on the ranch.
Crews have looking for human remains on the property since last week after a map was prepared by convicted serial killer and death row inmate Wesley Shermantine.
Shermantine and Loren Herzog, dubbed the "Speed Freak Killers" after they were arrested in 1999, were suspected in as many as 20 murders during a meth-fueled crime spree.
