Dellums to Go Down to the Wire in Announcing Whether He'll Run for Reelection

Dellums tells the Bay Citizen he'll wait until August 6th, the last day to file papers, to announce whether he wants to keep his job.
He says Oakland has made progress under his leadership, including a drop in crime for three consecutive years, but critics say his administration has been characterized by a hands-off approach to governing, with some describing it as an absence of leadership.
The front-runners so far in the mayoral race include former State Senator Don Perata, City Councilwoman Jean Quan, and City Councilwoman Rebecca Kaplan.
