Deer Jumps Into Grass Valley Motorcyclist's Path, Killing Him
GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (CBS/AP) — Authorities say a Northern California man died after the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer that jumped into his path.
The California Highway Patrol says Arthur W. Brogan died of his injuries at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley.
KCRA-TV in Sacramento reports (http://bit.ly/1QNBA4c ) that Brogan was riding a Honda Motorcycle at 25 to 35 mph and wearing a helmet when he hit a female deer Tuesday.
Police say Brogan hit the right-rear quarter of the deer, then his bike overturned and he was ejected.
He was airlifted to a hospital with critical injuries, but pronounced dead upon arrival.
The CHP continues to investigate. They say they don't believe the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
