Dating Site Claims Berkeley, Davis Students Relying On 'Sugar Daddies' To Pay Tuition
BERKELEY (CBS 5) - A dating website claims that an increasing number of UC Berkeley and UC Davis students are relying on people they met online to help pay tuition.
According to SeekingArrangement.com, which calls itself the world's largest Sugar Daddy dating website, "Hundreds of students from UC Berkeley and the UC Davis are already members of SeekingArrangement.com, where the average college Sugar Baby receives approximately $3000 per month to cover the cost of tuition, books and living expenses."
The website claims that couples form a "mutually beneficial relationships" because the Sugar Daddies receive "friendship and companionship" in return for the payments.
In a press release Monday, a company spokesperson said membership among Berkeley students grew 67% last year, while Davis experienced a 220% growth, "earning them spots among the 'Fastest Growing Sugar Baby Schools of 2012.'"
