Daily Madden: Tiger's Lack Of Confidence

PEBBLE BEACH (KCBS) - As Tiger Woods faded, Phil Mickelson surged to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Sunday.

"The thing that was really good about it is the way Phil Mickelson played," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "You kind of started rooting for him, and it was kind of a feel good type of deal. I think he's a good guy."

Tiger Woods started his final round just four strokes behind, but putted poorly and shot a 75 to finish 15th.

"I kind of bought into that thing that this was his coming back party," Madden said. "And then it starts going the other way."

Woods said he didn't feel comfortable. Madden said Woods didn't look confident.

"The word comfortable may be the right word, may be the wrong word," Madden said. "You don't feel confident about anything you're doing. You don't feel confident about your read. You don't feel confident about your stroke. You don't feel confident about anything, and putting is probably 90 percent of that." (7:30)
